Two Wheel Tuesday Brno WSS Last Lap

The last lap of the World Supersport race from Brno this past weekend was just about one for the ages!  Want to show people why motorcycle racing is SO much better than cage racing, this would be a good place to start.  Maybe not as good the the Assen WSS race last year, but still quite good.

Two Wheel Tuesday The Superbikers

While the SuperMoto craze may have peaked it’s still a form of motorcycle racing that most people enjoy.  While it was invented here in the US, the French are responsible for maintaining it’s development.  It started in California and was broadcast on ABC during Wide World Of Sports, back when cable was just really taking off.  You may hear people over the age of 40 waxing poetically about this at times, here was what it was all about.

Thanks to Sideburn for posting this up today!

Two Wheel Tuesday Riders For Health

I’ll be up front, I’m not the biggest supporter of charities and causes, I’ve seen first hand how the people they usually benefit most are the administrators who run the thing, most of the money never makes it the people or the causes they claim to want to help.

Riders For Health is different.  It’s a small organization where most of the money DOES make it to the people it wants to help.  The other thing that I like is that it appeals to my libertarian bent in that it uses local people to build up local infrastructures in Africa, no well healed do gooders swoop in to claim accolades they don’t deserve.

One of the main people behind this organization is Randy Mamola, four times a runner up in the 500GP championship, he works tirelessly in raising awareness and getting people he knows in the motorcycle industry to donate things for the big auction they have at the “Day Of Champions” before the Donnington MotoGP race, which is hosted by our friend Toby Moody and his announcing partner Julian Ryder.

This week at the MotoGP race at Laguna Seca, they will also be doing something similar here in having an auction to raise money for the organization, calling it, “The Day Of Stars“.  Have a look at Scott Jones’ write up of an auction Riders For Health did leading up to the MotoGP race at Laguna

Rather than me try to explain exactly what and how they do, Riders For Health produced this video that is quite good.

If you’d like to find out more information you can read up on them on their website www.riders.org

Two Wheel Tuesday Motorcycle Art

I was contacted by an artist from the UK named Billy, just Billy, he has some pretty cool prints available for Ducati and Triumph lovers.  The price isn’t bad, £45 which includes shipping.  Here is a cool twist though.  If you buy a print, you are automatically entered into a drawing to win the original oil on canvas.  All monies go to the artist, Rumblestrip.net has no financial interest in this.  If you like the Ducati print you can purchase it here:

and if you are into Triumph’s you can purchase that one here:

Two Wheel Tuesday Rossi Laps The Isle Of Man

As part of this years festivities for the Isle Of Man race, Yamaha had Valentino Rossi go over and do a parade lap of the circuit with Giacomo Agostini.  Looks like they had a lot of fun!!  Vale makes an interesting comment about the new R1 at the end when he compares it to his 2004 Yamaha M1

Two Wheel Tuesday Erik Buell

Erik Buell is a very polarizing person in the motorcycle world, you either love him or you loath him, there are very few people in the middle.  People who buy Buell’s tend to treat Erik with a reverence normally associated with a diety.  Erik Buell has been called the Jim Jones of the motorcycle world.

This past weekend Erik had members of the media and some others out to his “shed” where he build some of his first motorcycles.  Watch these three videos and decide for yourself where you fall.

Two Wheel Tuesday The Triumph Thruxton

Over the last five years or so the retro cafe movement has really picked up momentum.  Both Ducati and Triumph have brought out lines of bikes to echo that golden era of motorcycling from the mid 60’s to the very early 70’s.  It has gone so far that people are dragging old Honda CB550 and 750’s, Kawasaki H1 and H2 etc out of the basement, fixed them up and added touches so that that they wouldn’t look out of place down at The Ace Cafe getting ready to do a ton up run.

Triumph had their demo fleet in town over the weekend and we got a chance to take a ride on the Thruxton.  This is a bike that we have liked for a while from a looks standpoint but have been reserving judgement on till we could take it for a spin.

We liked it, and we think you will too, have a look!
