The name ZL1 Camaro is one of the most reveried in the GM history books. The COPO special was a hand assembled aluminum block 427, and only 69 were ever built. It was in the day when horsepower ratings were done with a wink and a nod in conjunction with the NHRA to slot into different catagories in either Stock or Super Stock racing.
This time the ZL1 name is pulled out as a 550+ horsepower LSA engine is slotted under the hood. The LSA engine is the same one that that powers the CTS-V series of cars, itself a slightly detuned version of the engine from the ZR1 Corvette.
This new ZL1 isn’t just designed for the drag strip, it is built to carve corners and tear up road courses. It comes with larger tires, a much larger brakes, short throw shifter, magnetic ride shocks, and a new limited slip rear end.
Pricing was not announced but we’d guess that this Camaro will come close to, if not surpass $50,000.

With as big of a fan as Jay Leno is, we are a bit surprised that he doesn’t own a Reventon. He owns other very low production supercars like the McLaren F1, but up to this point he has resisted.
Jay does his usual show, talking about the car, the history of the company, the lineage of the machine then takes it out for a drive. We must say this car does make beautiful noises!
OK enough of that, go watch the video, after you get a paper towel to wipe up your drool!
We had the chance to head out to Los Angeles to drive the new 2012 Ford Focus in this hills and canyons of Malibu and the surrounding area. Ford is looking to completely take over the c-segment section of the market from Honda, Toyota and others. Chevy and Hyundai have new competitors in this market as well with the new Cruze and the Elantra which should keep everyone on their toes.
Have a look at our first impressions of the Focus and some pictures as well. Provided the Snowmageden coming later in the week doesn’t postpone it, we shoud be getting a chance to drive the Elantra later in this week as well, should make for a nice back to back comparison.

Perhaps you’ve heard the stories about the legenday Imola 200. It was a non-championship race for a few years that drew the elite of motorcycle road racing and saw a wide variety of of machinery from Grand Prix two strokes to big bore Superbikes of the day.
The Paul Smart replica Ducati, takes it’s cues from the bike in this race. It was the first taste the Europeans would have of the man we call King Kenny, and the Spanish called “The Alien”
This past fall, many of the racers and their bikes were brought back to the track to have some fun, and let everyone remember what it was like “back in the day”.
Enjoy the video.
