Autoline After Hours Tonight With Clay Dean, Director, GM North America Advanced Design

This week the topic is wood. Sorta kinda. Actually, we’ll be touching on the very special wood that went into the new Cadillac Ciel concept, and we’ll be talking with none other than Clay Dean, the Director of North America Advanced Design for GM. We’ll be asking him where the future of Cadillac and other GM design is going in the next few years, and we’ll see if we can talk him into letting us test drive Cadillac’s new über-sedan — but somehow we doubt it. To discuss this and more, John McElroy is joined in studio by Peter De Lorenzo the Autoextremist and Scott Burgess from The Detroit News.

2011 Autoline After Hours Automotive Draft

Who would make the perfect automotive CEO? What if Alan Mulally was already taken? How about a chief designer — would you try and lure Ed Welburn away from GM? That’s the game we’re playing tonight as we perform the first-annual Autoline After Hours Automotive Draft. Just as in fantasy football, we’re assembling our top executive teams, and once a coveted executive has been picked, he or she is out of the running. Our team owners for the 2011 Draft are John McElroy from Dymaxion Motors, Peter De Lorenzo from Renzo Motors, Ed Lapham from DeWard Auto Group and Jim Hall from Automobiles Bistango. On site in our War Room will be Scott Burgess from The Detroit News and Mark Phelan from the Detroit Free Press with their play-by-play analysis of the draft picks. Our master of ceremonies will be none other than Frank Markus from Motor Trend. So tune in and get ready for the battle to begin; this is gonna be good!

Autoline After Hours Tonight with Scott Burgess and Jim Hall

This week Peter De Lorenzo, the Autoextremist, takes the AAH reins while John McElroy is out on the West Coast. Mr. Renzo has summoned up two of his favorite car guys for this occasion: Scott Burgess, the automotive critic and columnist for The Detroit News, and “the man who knew too much” Jim Hall of 2953 Analytics. Together they’ll be diving into the deep issues of the week. With oil prices skyrocketing as a result of Middle East unrest, which of the small vehicles — Cruze, Focus or Elantra — will be poised to take advantage of the situation? Meanwhile, BMW will be giving all its alt fuel vehicles the “i” moniker. Also, Honda chopped down the size of its board of directors from 20 to 12. Just what is going on at that company? Join us as we get into all this and much more.
