Two For Two Wheel Tuesday!

First up is a video to remind you that all those videos you shoot with your camrea phone, Flip camera or actual video camera aren’t good!  No seriously, this video of a 70’s Yamaha done up in Cafe Racer style shows how well done video of motorcycles can be high art.

Take some time to really look at how everything is shot, the music, the angles, etc, this person who put this together has some real skills!

The second video is also very beautiful, just in a different way.  Michelin put together this production from last weekends 24 Hours of Le Mans motorcycle race.  What I really impressed with is not just the the film, but that Michelin shows and highlights the winners who were not on Michelin rubber!  Little things like that are to be noted and praised in an era where every bit of PR has to be spun to show you in the best light.  Enjoy this one as well!

Two Wheel Tuesday, YZR500 Replica

I know, it’s a real bombshell that I would post something two stroke related for Two Wheel Tuesday, but, come on, it’s a YZR500 replica!!!  I know they show this as an Abe replica, and that paint scheme is one of my favorites, but there is nothing preventing you from doing this a bit different.

Anyway, MCN was down in Sydney and spent some time at Mico Products going over this bike.  Enjoy!

King Kenny Rides The TZ750 Again

For this years MotoGP weekend at Indy, I truely think that more people came to see and were more excited about seeing Kenny Roberts ride the bike that “They don’t pay me enough money to ride”.  This is a nice bit put together by Dunlop, though I wish they would have had more video of Kenny at speed in the corners on the beast.

Honda Out Of US Motorcycle Roadracing

We aren’t much for cutting and pasting press releases and calling it content, but this does pretty much sum it all up nicely.

Honda Press Release
Honda Racing Announcement
9-18-09

HEAD: Honda Racing announcement

For immediate release:

Torrance, CA: During the 2009 AMA/DMG Road Racing series, American Honda
Motor Company, Inc. contracted team personnel, including team Honda rider
Neil Hodgson, to the Corona Extra Honda race team.

Corona Extra Honda race team participated in this series with our
award-winning 2009 CBR1000RR in the AMA Superbike class, unfortunately
participation in this series did not meet our racing goals and objectives.

Regrettably the current AMA/DMG racing environment does not align with our
company goals. Effective today 9/18/09, AHM will not be renewing contracts
with Corona Extra Racing and will be terminating the on-site Road Race
operations by 9/30/09.  All assets will be put into storage for future
consideration. Team staff was informed of these changes today at 1:00PM
PDT.

Honda Brings Flappy Paddle Gearboxes To Motorcycles

Not sure how I feel about this.  There IS something about being able to operate a clutch, match revs on a down shift and be smooth that is appealing.  On the other hand, I can see how on touring and commuter bikes this could be attractive.  Not sure how well it will work for sport bike and racing applications, but I’m sure we will find out very shortly.

Two Wheel Tuesday Motorcycle Art

I was contacted by an artist from the UK named Billy, just Billy, he has some pretty cool prints available for Ducati and Triumph lovers.  The price isn’t bad, £45 which includes shipping.  Here is a cool twist though.  If you buy a print, you are automatically entered into a drawing to win the original oil on canvas.  All monies go to the artist, Rumblestrip.net has no financial interest in this.  If you like the Ducati print you can purchase it here:

and if you are into Triumph’s you can purchase that one here:

Two Wheel Tuesday Erik Buell

Erik Buell is a very polarizing person in the motorcycle world, you either love him or you loath him, there are very few people in the middle.  People who buy Buell’s tend to treat Erik with a reverence normally associated with a diety.  Erik Buell has been called the Jim Jones of the motorcycle world.

This past weekend Erik had members of the media and some others out to his “shed” where he build some of his first motorcycles.  Watch these three videos and decide for yourself where you fall.
