The Latest Audi Clean Diesel Commercial
My fellow RoundAboutShow panelist Zack Bowman posted this video on the ExhaustNote blog. I can almost guarantee that thanks to lawyers and special interest groups, you won’t see this on TV in the US because it will offend three people in a country of 300 Million!
Also in this era of “Green” where the politicians and leaders of Social Conscience who preach “green” fly in private aircraft and are driven around in SUV to all their speeches. Also the same IDIOT’S prevent cars like this from being sold in the US at affordable prices because they think technology that’s not ready for primetime for 7-10 years is a better idea then technology available TODAY than can cut petrolium use in the US by 20+% in a very short period of time.
Anyway have a look at this very funny Audi commercial.
RoundAboutShow #15 The Holiday Wishlist
Every week we hit-up the discount travel sites in search of the cheapest airfare around. During the hunt, we find a wide range of ticket prices and airlines, and maybe even a cohesive, Zen-like theme. All we want is to make it home for the holidays, and find a few off-putting news bites to fit the theme, but our flight was canceled due to bad weather and we’re stuck in the Minneapolis airport eating stale Cinnabons and sleeping on the floor. Meanwhile, visions of Spykers and Audis dance in our heads.
This week, with a few short buying days left in the holiday season, our esteemed panel assembles its holiday wishlist. Eric yearns for a Tag Heuer watch. Zach has a soft spot for an NSX. Craig asks that we donate to the Focus Fund. And Ben just wants a way to operate his iPhone’s GPS without freezing his fingers off. Plus, ourBlind Spot story, the Lincoln MKT is In the Garage and an atrociously styled G6 inthis week’s Highway Hearsay.

RoundAboutShow #14 “Eye Of The Beholder”
One man’s (Craig Cole, picture to the right) fashionable and functional Russian, rabbit fur hat is another man’s hideous, PETAian nightmare. It’s all a matter of perspective, and of course the same is true in the automotive world.
Dodge’s chunky Challenger is named Consumer Reports’ most satisfying vehicle. A Chinese truck driver’s eye beholds the icy winds of the open road. Hofele melds the best of both worlds in the Audi family to create a truly hideous steed. Plus, our Blind Spot story, the Ford Transit Connect is In the Garage and the internet’s coming to your car in this week’s AutoGadget.

Audi’s Now Pushing Clean Diesel
We got a press release from Audi this morning with a new commercial they will be running promoting their clean diesel technology in their cars. As long time readers of this blog and readers of the podcast know, I have, for 15+ years been a big proponent of turbo diesel technology and it’s benefits, especially in cost over the much hyped hybrid option.
First VW comes out with an add that’s fun and snarky, now Audi, comes out with their message that is pretty straight forward, and makes it’s point very directly. Have a look.
Why LeMans Is Relevent
I was asked by Michael Banovsky of the great vLane site to come up with a short blog post about the 24 Hour of LeMans race. You can check it out over on their site. 2009 24 Hours Of LeMans Preview If you would leave a comment at the bottom of the post.
Thanks and enjoy!
Group B Rally Tribute
When I was in High School in the mid 80’s I remember ESPN showing the World Rally Championship and was always amaized at the car control these drivers had. To this day I firmly believe the most talent car drivers in the world are Rally drivers. The rally cars, more than any other four wheel form of racing comes the closest to motorcycle roadracing for me in the control and the ballet that is required to excel.
0-60 in under 3 seconds on the dirt, 5-800+ horsepower while weighing under 2500lbs, even today these cars inspire awe. I still find the Lancia 037 to be one of the most beautiful and purposeful cars of that era, even if it wasn’t the quickest, or most reliable. If you are a fan of this era, YouTube is a treasure trove of great video.
